ABOUT LE REFUGE

College Mixte Le Refuge is a private school in the Lanzac community of Montrouis, Haiti. We educate over 240 students from preschool through 12th grade.

Our founder and principal, Gabriel Toussaint, realized that there were many children in his community who were unable to attend school or graduate. He wanted to provide a school that would give children access to a quality education and hope for a brighter future. "Search for a refuge and you will find a refuge" is the motto of our school. The Lanzac parents know that our school will provide a safe environment for their children to learn.

These children are the future of Haiti. We have dedicated teachers who are committed to helping the students learn and succeed in school. Plans this year are to offer beyond the required curriculum classes in English and computers.

LET THE SCHOOL BELLS RING

Le Refuge opened its doors to our new school building on January 7, 2020. Our students now have a better learning environment in a spacious setting with natural lighting and ventilation in their classrooms.

The new building not only serves children from preschool – 12th grade, but is also used for adult literacy and vocational training classes. We have a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children and the adults in the Lanzac community.

Le Refuge School still has outstanding needs. The building needs to be painted inside and out. Solar panels are needed to provide electricity to the classrooms. Supplies such as chalkboards, wall dry erase boards, tables, chairs, desks, laptops, and fans are needed for the classrooms. Will you join us in making a difference by donating to our Project Refuge Fundraising Campaign for these needs? Please indicate on the donation page the project where you would like your donation allocated.

Le Refuge School Donation

OUR students & TEACHERS

Very few students at Le Refuge School have the means to pay all the required school fees that need to be collected to cover teacher salaries. We need to supplement this fee income with financial support to keep our teachers employed and our students enrolled.

Your donation of $25/month will meet two needs. First, it will make it possible for our students to attend Le Refuge even if their parents cannot pay fees in full. Second, it will provide needed funds for teacher salaries. Without funding for teacher salaries, Le Refuge School would not exist. Will you consider becoming part of our team that supports Le Refuge students and teachers?
